Just going through all my scans from yesterday and this one really stuck out to me for some reason? Love these guys.

Another shot from my mall trip last night. It's always fun taking pictures of complete strangers.
I normally take two shots: one with the polaroid or the Fuji pack film and then another one with whatever medium format film I have loaded in the other film back (usually Kodak Tri-X). Taking the first shot using the instant film gives the subject something to look at while assuring them that I'm not some sort of weirdo/creep. Then as quickly as possible I switch film backs giving them time to look over the photograph and get a little more comfortable with me. I'm usually explaining to them about the book project I've been working on and how I like to catch people in a normal life setting. I started doing this technique a little while ago and noticed it actually warms them up a little to the idea of getting their picture taken and helps me get more of a pose out of them rather than catching them off guard, missing focus or having them look away last second. This pertains to my documantry or street style of photography.
It's tough lugging my Mamiya around with me everywhere I go due to it weighing 7lbs but the quality of the shot is so worth the soar shoulders. Plus the camera truly is a magnet for people. I can't tell you how many business cards I've handed out in the past couple of months. I just love shooting a waste level view finder. I find it less intimidating then shoving my camera directly in the subjects face!
So that wraps up todays photo of the day blog post! Have a great night and I will see you tomorrow!!!

Taking the Mamiya to the mall was a hit.

Todays photo was taken on my walk home from work. Looking over this photo before posting it I realized what an abundant of talent this town has. When I think of back home and how if I were in the same situation there walking home from work it would be a completely different world. Back home when walking around town I don't remember seeing smiles on peoples faces. Not to say that where I came from isn't a wonderful place that I am proud to originate from. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is just easier to be yourself here. Maybe it's just easier for me? There is a giant art community in Nashville/Franklin. It's crazy how many people I have come across in the past two years that moved here for something art related. Musicians, photographers, graphic designers just a bunch of creatives. I guess I found an area that challenges me. I believe I read somewhere that in every 10 miles there is at least 60 photographers...so I find it important to not stray from the projects I work on or to never stop pushing myself to learn at least one new thing a day. I can't give my surroundings the full credit but this little town has inspired me so much to move forward and to keep pushing forward every day!
I shot this on my Mamiya RB67 using FP3000B film. Depth of field still gets me giddy! Have a great night and I'll see you tomorrow!

I totally forgot about this until just now! So this fits for the photo of the day! This in no way is to get Shane in any sort of trouble! Just wanted to show everyone how awesomely slow our Christmas Eve Day rush was at The Mercantile! (yes we already wiped the walls and the mop sink G!) Ha Ha.
I had an amazing Christmas morning and night spent with loved ones! Laura dinner was amazing specially the bread pudding! So sad to see this day come to an end but not before I play the crap out of super smash bros! I hope every single one of you had a wonderful day!
See ya tomorrow!

The wonderful beautiful town of Franklin, TN is today's photo of the day! I shot this on a very quiet slushy day. All the business shut down due to the roads being covered in ice which coming from Pennsylvania I got a little laugh out the whole situation! What makes me love this photograph is how empty it is. Not a single car in sight.
I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas Eve! I hope you get to spend time with your loved ones!
Thanks again for all of your support and kind words thoughtout this past year and the encouragement to keep my dream alive! See you tomorrow!!!

Today's photo is from one of my many many late night trips to Waffle House which in the past two years I've become a regular at. Working on a restaurant I vowed to never be one of those people that I've become. But I do enjoy having my food and drink delivered without having to order! Ha ha it's the little things right?!
Mo believe I came up with a name for the book I've been working on but I will release more info on that soon as everything is finished and set. Just super excited about it!
Have a good night and I'll see you tomorrow!

Another throw back from about a year and a half ago when I was in my Impossoble Project phase. I just love the color and imperfections of this photograph. I gave this Polaroid away with the first issue of my photo zine so this digital copy is all I have left of this one!
I finally got my two five packs of Kodak Tri-X 400 film in the mail today! So here's to finishing my lifestyle/street photography book!!! Still working on a title...which I assume will come once I have the full body of work finished! See you tomorrow!

Taking it back to September 20th 2014 of Anna and Ethan's wedding reception. One of my favorite moments of the year! I just knew as soon as they started passing out the biggest size sparklers I've ever seen that it was the perfect opportunity to get my camera out of my bag.
So in other news I am in the process of of putting my book together. I still have about 6 rolls of 120mm and 2 roll of 35mm black and white film left until I have everything I need. I'm planning on doing some sort of gallery show with the release of the book so I need your help! I need to find an affordable place to have prints made that's not Walmart, Staples or some other kind of chain place. The quality for those types of places isn't the look I'm going for . So if you know of anyone with print making equipment that would be will to help me out with this please keep me in the loop! Everything shot for this book is analog or on film so I would really like to do the whole process from start to finish.
Thanks for taking the time to check the photo of the day out and I will see you tomorrow!

Today's photo of the day is a photograph taken during this years Dickens of a Christmas Festival in Downtown Franklin, TN. This photo was taken on my Mamiya RB67 using Kodak Tri-X 400 speed Black and White negative film. I had removed the seal by accident on the film back of the camera which lead to weird light leaks on all of the photos. Cool! Ha Ha. Enjoy!

Today's photo of the day is one of my favorites that I've take in 2014. It was in June right at the beginning of summer and I just had such a good time walking around Downtown Franklin with the Toll family. Looking back it feels like a lifetime ago. Every opportunity is a learning experience. I was reminded how precious time spent with family truly is. I'm just glad I got to capture this moment is time and I feel as though I caught each of their personalities perfectly. So a very big thank you to Ryan, Mike and Christina Toll I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I do!

Todays photograph is a throw back from I believe the beginning of 2014 at 12th and Porter in Nashville. Will Cafaro's band Tumbleweed Co. was killing it and if I remember correctly I was rolling around on the floor to get some of my favorite photographs taken this year. This photo was taken on an expired roll of Kodak Gold 400 35mm on my Nikon EM. Just thinking back on this year as it comes to an end It really was a giant leap forward for my photography. I really found who I am and what story I want to tell with the images I create. I'm looking forward to 2015!

As Above So Below...
Got to hang with some good people in Spring Hill, TN tonight and we watched the movie As Above So Below. It definitely gives you a very uncomfortable claustrophobic feeling that had my heart pounding. Not the strongest ending of a movie but I thought they did a really good job. On the way home I snapped a couple weird highway photos. So as above so below. "get it"
Also got a couple shot of Sasha. Sleepy pup...
Thanks for a great night!

This is a little bit of a throw back to a roll of kodaks Tri-X 400 35mm film that I used my Nikon FM which is a shutter priority camera from the late 70's early 80's that I picked up about a year ago at Carpe Diem a local vintage record/oddities store. I've scored some great cameras and records there. It's a great little spot worth checking out!

For the past couple of weeks I've been really hitting the streets of Downtown Franklin, TN with my Mamiya RB67. Using mostly black and white Kodak Tri-X 400 speed film. I just love only getting 10 shots per roll of film to tell a story. I've also been developing and scanning all of my own stuff. Shooting a 6x7 negative makes it super easy to get a decent scan with my mediocre Canon Pixma scanner. I'm pretty lucky to be living in an area that is super excepting to me sticking a camera in most strangers faces! It's been a real learning experience shooting, developing and scanning my own stuff. Thankfully there is a ton of different YouTube tutorials on how to do all of those things because analog photography really is a dying art. So the above picture was shot on Ilford Delta 100 speed film using my Mamiya and it was a random street portrait but I forgot to advance the film from the previous shot of the local Methodist Church right on 5th and Main Street. Also the girl in the photo is Eva Holbrook who is the singer in the band Shel. You should take a second and give them a listen. Below I will post a couple of my analog favs from the past two weeks.
So linking with the shots above and the title of this post I'm just really into shooting lifestyle, street and documentary style photography lately. Something about carrying my dinosaur of a camera around (Mamiya RB67) loaded up with black and white film just gives me the courage to step in front of complete strangers and fire away. It also doesn't hurt that this camera is like something out of the Smithsonian "haha" which is automatically a conversation starter. You wouldn't believe how many times I've heard "look at that guy with the camera" since the U.S. Postal Service dropped it at my doorstep. I plan on continuing this process of spending the majority of my free time taking to the street to interact with strangers (or cowardly hide behind them) to get enough photographs to fill up a sort of lifestyles book about this great little town. I checked out the book making site Blurb for prices and layouts and they seem to be the winner for this project. I really want to almost keep it in the same line of a photo zine but I want to step up the production level. I just really like the options they offer and you can link right up to them for sale purposes. So I believe that's the route I am going to go. I hope to have everything ready for print by the beginning of the new year!
That brings me to the "A photo a day" project. I really need to limit myself to splurging all of my new shots on my social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. I tend to just give it all away every time I have a new set of photos. That is totally my fault cause I get so excited with each new batch of developed shots. So starting now I am going to just release one photo a day on this blog from here on out. I fully intend on using my moneys worth of this website cause I only use it once a month to vomit a months worth of work and to share my ever updating portfolio. So just keep a look out for that!
I wanted to finish this post off with a couple of the latest polaroids I've taken (Above). I just love all of the imperfections these photos have.
So that's it! I hope everyone has a great Christmas! If you happen to see me taking 15 laps around the Downtown Franklin area please feel free to stop me say hello!
Keep doing what you love!!!!

Edit...Edit...Editing...Editor...Happy Halloween!
Let me start this off with my Fuji FP 3000c Polaroid series I just scanned in a couple of days ago. I am in the process of purchasing a better scanner so I can scan negatives and other forms of photographs that I have taken and developed. So above and below are eight shots that I got in the past couple of weeks. I have a bunch more that I intend of showing so just keep a look out for those in the future!
This past Thursday I got together with the band Pet Chat to kick off my live take away music video series. I have a couple still shots to hold you over until the release of the video which is scheduled to be live by this upcoming weekend so check back for that!!! Below are some photos from our adventure!
Next on the list is a couple of horse pictures I shot while on the way to my bosses house to borrow his truck the day I moved into my new apartment at the beginning of this month. I decided last night that I was going to develop a couple rolls of film that I had sitting on my desk gathering dust. I was excited to see how the 120 Ilford film was going to come out cause I have only been using the Polaroid back of my Mamiya. Just like the Polaroid's these negatives just have this vintage feel to them that I haven't been able to achieve with my digital camera. Film just makes everything look and feel so real and organic. The scans of these pictures aren't the best but you get the idea!
I also wanted to post a couple photos from Betsy and Ryan's wedding! I am almost done with all of the editing from that day. I must say even though we had rain in the early part of the day it didn't affect the outcome of the pictures. Looking back I was so worried that I was going to miss an important moment a kiss or an expression of a family member but as I have been working on these I got so many great photographs that I know they will be happy with. They take you back to that day to the laughing and crying, hugs and smiles! I just can't wait till they get to see them. I learned so much that day and I couldn't thank them enough for giving me that experience. So here are a few shots from that day!
Alright let me wrap this up with what I have going on right now...I will be putting together a disposable Kodak camera project. I have 10 of them that I've been holding onto for sometime now that I didn't really know what to do with. So I thought of passing them around to friends and stranger to take pictures of people or things that interest them then pass the camera on to the next person until the roll is empty. Then I will develop the pictures and make a Zine filled with those pictures. I am going to try and make this a every couple of month thing. Hopefully at some point I will have enough photos to make an interesting book?? We will see. So if you happen to get one of these cameras in your hand I will have a small guideline attached to the camera for you to follow and so you will know how to return it to me. Thanks in advance for your help with this!!!
I'm going to leave it at that! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall scenery! Keep checking back for new content and don't forget to click the links below and follow me on Instagram and like me on Facebook!!! Keep doing what you love...

Comic Con, Zach Hackett, Betsy & Ryan's Wedding and John J Kells...
Let me begin with Comic Con Wizard World 2014. Of course I brought my camera with me but I was taken back with all the excitement I totally forgot to take pictures. I did have a blast being there and found a ton of amazing artwork and comics to bring home with me! Above and below are a few of the shots I got from that day.
This past Tuesday I was at Kimbro's Cafe during their Deconstructed Song Writers Night. I always try to get over there as fast as I can after I get off from my shift at the Pub. It was a full house that night filled to the brim of musicians and music lovers. I ended up only getting the camera out once Zach Hackett got on stage to play his three song set. So these are a couple of the shots I got along with a video of one of the songs he played. I try to capture at least one artist each week to add to the collection that I have going. I'm also planning on doing a live take away show series featuring two or three songs followed by a Q&A section. The first of the series is in the works now with local favs Pet Chat. Keep checking back for all that jazz or if you would like me to feature you or your band head over to the contacts section!
Alright so this upcoming weekend (the 10th & 11th) I will be taking on the biggest challenge of my career as a photographer by having the honor of shooting soon to be Betsy & Ryan Dempsey's wedding day! I can't tell you how excited I am to be doing this! I've had the privilege of taking their photos for the save the date cards they sent out. Here is one of the photos we got the day we spent together in Downtown Franklin.
I have been getting ready for this wedding for the past couple of weeks now...just reading up and watching some of my favorite photographers and their techniques. I am also going to be shooting a lot of black and white 35 and 120mm Kodak Tri-X film along with FujiFilm's instant color and B&W pack film. Below I am posting a photo of the Mamiya RB67 medium format camera that I just picked up to use as my second camera body for the big day. Testing this camera out has been so much fun and it totally brings a ton of attention my way when walking down the street with it. I've been using it as my walking camera taking polaroids for people. It is a conversation starter for sure. It might have even booked a job or two for me this past week.
Needless to say that I am 100% ready for the weekend and I couldn't be more excited to take on this awesome challenge. I will post more on how everything went and a couple of the shots from the wedding in the next week or so!!!
I am going to finish this BLOG post off with a couple of shots from the portrait shoot I had with John J Kells last week. It was the last official photo shoot in my old studio. I thought the session went great and I had a blast working with John and I think we got the look he wanted. Above and below are a couple of my favorite shots from that day.
So that wraps it up for this update...I'm starting to book some stuff for November so if you're looking to get Senior Pictures, Family/Kids Portraits, Engagement or Pet pictures get ahold of me all my info is in the contacts section! Fall is a great natural back drop for photographic needs! I hope to hear from you soon and thanks for stopping by!
Keep doing what you love...
